Peter O'Toole is a 7 time Oscar Nominated actor, best known for his portrayal of T.E Lawrence in David Lean's Lawrence of Arabia, as well as his duel roles of Henry the II, in The Lion in Winter and Becket.

Born in Connemara Ireland, August 2, 1932, O'Toole moved to Leeds, England at a young age. He decided his ideal field of work would be in journalism, and he worked his way into the game. This did not last for long though, for he soon would discover acting, and debuted on stage at the age of 17.

His next two years of life would be in the Royal Navy, where he was a radioman. O'Toole then returned to studying acting, this time at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, with many soon to be famous actors, including Albert Finney (who O'Toole would beat out for the lead in Lawrence in the near future.)

Although his true debut was in 1959 with The Savage Innocents (1959), O'Toole had a few minor roles until his breakthrough in the 1962 blockbuster Lawrence of Arabia. This 3 hour epic made O'Toole a huge star.

O'Toole would spend the next years in a combination of films, plenty of them below his true acting skill, and although some of them were still successful, he never won the academy award he was nominated for, seven different times.

O'Toole's alcoholism is often blamed as the reason why he would never relive his performance in Lawrence of Arabia, and although he recovered from it eventually, his good-looks and fame were almost gone by then.

All the same, O'Toole is considered to be one of the best actors of his day.
