When I was a senior in High school, the band names in the Portland music scene were so unbelievably stupid and the people were so pretentious and lame, that I decided to see just how lame they were. I made up a band name off the top of my head and asked exactly 100 people if they had head of that kick ass new group. Wouldn't you know it; in 1995, 92 out of 100 people in the Portland area knew who the band Octopus Pliers were? That's pretty fucking lame.
