"Everyone deserves compassion". I heard it quite a few (?)weeks/months(?) ago, yet I find it still remains well within my thoughts. As I examine the statement, I find that it is probably one of the most intelligent (if not
the most intelligent) statements I have ever heard. I shall here assume that she meant, by "Everyone", every member of the current human race. My inclination is to agree with the statement. While we consider the statement, I feel that we should also consider the term "
altruistic".
Considering one situation, as selfish and as evil as a victimizer may seem, the fact remains that it is possible that the victimizer might have been the victim in the past. We each become the person we are by many events and situations that can each have a major or minor impact on us. Perhaps that person went through some things that none of us could go through without becoming worse ourselves.
Whether you agree or disagree with it, I feel quite certainly that it would be a good idea to take the time to consider the statement.
I have found, from my own experience, that even the smallest act, such as kind words, or a tender hug or touch, can make one feel quite cheered up, and/or may inspire one to commit their own act of kindness.
You never know what extraordinary good might result from providing compassion to those who might seem not to deserve it. Maybe, just maybe, the person receiving that compassion might retain just the smallest bit of
benevolence within themselves, and be moved to repay, or transfer, that act of compassion...and you never know the impact that could result...
