A city in British Columbia, part of Metro Vancouver but north of Vancouver proper, separated from Vancouver's downtown peninsula by the Burrard Inlet. North Vancouver is set on a steep hill on the slopes of various mountains, and is connected to Vancouver by the second narrows bridge on one end, the lion's gate bridge (or first narrows bridge) on the other, and Coast Mountain Bus Company, the local transit authority, runs Seabus, a passenger and bike ferry, in the middle, connecting Lonsdale Quay, a public market and transit confluence at the foot of Lonsdale Ave, with downtown Vancouver. North Vancouver is full of evergreen trees, highways, and expensive single-family dwellings. Public bus service is spotty outside of Lonsdale, but exists. North Van is home to Capilano College and various civic centres. It is bounded by mountains on the north, the sea on the south, West Vancouver to the west, and Deep Cove and beyond it the Indian Arm to the East.
