This orchestra, located in Boston in the New England Conservatory of Music, is one of the best youth orchestras in the United States. Conducted by Ben Zander, it has toured all over the world performing a plethora of classical pieces.

The Y.P.O. (as it is commonly referred to) hears auditions from all high school students between the ages of fourteen and eighteen. You have to be really really really really good to get in. If membership of such an orchestra is within your reach, however, the experience you will have is by all means worth the time commitment.
