US Television Series on The WB Network (2002)
An adaptation of the UK Television Programme "A Young Person's
Guide to Becoming a Rock Star," this series follows Jace Darnell
(played by Oliver Hudson) as he builds a rock band from a few friends
and limited resources.
The overly-confident Jace is convinced that his band SlipDog is
going to make it big. He and best friend-cum-lead guitarist "Doc" Pike (Kevin Rankin) gather bassist Joe Delamo (sexy
newcomer Lauren Hodges), and keyboardist/DJ Sarah Nelson
(Emmanuelle Vaugier), with whom Jace is enamored. Drummer Danny
Whitaker (James DeBello) meets an untimely demise a la Spinal Tap's
percussionists, and is replaced in the second episode by Lucas Zank
(Kris Lemche).
Relying upon the equipment and experience of their "manager" Dole
Greyson (Rick Overton), a junkyard owner with a shady past, the
band gels and sets their sights on stardom... but will encounter more
than their fair share of turmoil along the way.
My Guide... was pulled from the air after less than a month of episodes.
