While watching a movie the other day, I noticed that it had a few Ford
Mustangs in it.
Since I am a Mustang fan and have been for many years I started doing some
research and have found that there are over 300 movies with a Ford Mustang in
the movie. I am sure that there are more movies out there that I may have missed
in this list, but I managed to find over 300. If you know of any movies I have
missed, please /msg me.
The Mustang has always been a popular car for many reasons. The price of a
new mustang back in the 1960's made it appealing to a wide range of buyers; it
was cheap enough that the average person could afford one without breaking their
budget. The sports car enthusiast could get into racing fairly cheap with a
Mustang. This meant they could afford a muscle car, and that left them money
to add high performance parts to their Mustang. There was an article in an old
HotRod Magazine that my father had, in the article it described how
people would go rent a Mustang GT 350 for a week from Hertz rental cars, then
they would take them and put roll bars in them, and race them at road rally
races around the country. They would then cut the roll bars out, and return them
to Hertz.
Today's Mustangs are smaller and more streamlined that its older brothers
from the 1960's and 1970's, More mustangs are sold with 6 cylinder engines today
than ever before, but today's fuel injected 6 cylinder engines produce as much
torque and horsepower as some of the older 8 cylinder engines. The mustang is
still a very sporty looking car, and is still a very popular car with a variety
of age groups.
Some movies feature the Mustang as the main character of the movie. In Gone in Sixty Seconds a
Nicolas Cage remake of the 1974 movie, Cage's
character nicknamed "Memphis" has to steal 50 cars
in 24 hours. The real plot seems to center around the one car that has eluded
him many times. The car that eludes him is nicknamed "Eleanor"; it is a
1967-1968 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 KR.
The Shelby GT-500 KR was a stock Ford Mustang that has been extremely modified by
Carroll Shelby, who is arguably the custom car king.
Gone in Sixty Seconds is in my opinion the movie most famous for

avalyn says re Mustangs in movies: Mitchell's also got a Mustang in it
(an orange one!), used for nefarious purposes to run the unlikable protagonist
off the road.
