Native Canadian and stage performer. Won an Emmy for his stint in SCTV, which he joined in 1982. He joined Saturday Night Live as a player in 1984, where he did characters Jackie Rogers, Jr., lawyer Nathan Thurm, and the Pat Sajak-obsessed wacknut Ed Grimley. Short won a second Emmy for The 1995 Martin Short Special. In 1986 he did Innerspace and Three Amigos!. In 1994 Short was awarded The Order of Canada (their highest civilian honor).
