Due to a number of unfortunate events which happened to coincide, the legendary developer lacked the short-term capital to meet
payroll and made the decision to shut down
May 24, 2000. This was truly a black day for gamers everywhere.
But the legacy of
LGS will live on, not only through its dedicated fan base and its legacy of classic games, but through the games that will be created elsewhere by such talented individuals as
Doug Church,
Warren Spector, and
Terri and
Eric Brosius.
