The Karl Fisher
Machine
is an
electric
machine used for
plant
grafting
. It makes clean cuts and is quick to use, giving it an
advantage
over other grafting methods; however it is more
expensive
than just doing the grafting manually with a sharp
knife
. The machine cuts two slots into the
scion
and leaves 2 projecting pieces on the
rootstock
, allowing them to nest together. This makes grafting the pieces very easy if the stems are about the same size because they nest together. After doing this you have only to wrap them in
rubber
and leave them for 5-7 weeks to see if the graft will take. Some plants, like
grape
, need to graft area to be covered in wax before planting to prevent drying out.
