Jesus Day is a day created by Christians to celebrate Jesus Christ. Although Christmas and Easter already exist, Jesus Day has been created any way on June 10.
Jesus Day is famous (or infamous) for being officially supported by George W. Bush in Texas when he signed his proclamation declaring it an official holiday on March 17th, 2000.
Many Jews in Texas found this both outrageous and frightening. United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism reported Jesus Day as unconstitutional along with other countless other groups such as the Freedom From Religion Foundation.
Bush's response to criticism of his proclamation was that he officially supported other religions in days such as Holocaust Remembrance Day.
However, there is no Buddha Day, Mohammed Day, or Bob Day. There is no day to celebrate atheism or religions that are not monotheistic, like Paganism, Discordianism, Church of the Subgenius, Wiccan, Ekin Kar or Hare Krishna.
There is no Gaea day.
There is no Timothy Leary day.
There is no day honoring agnostics.
Currently, there are no national holidays that support Islam, Zorastinism, Hindustani and countless others.
This is of huge importance to anyone interested in the Separation of Church and State.
Also note:
The above are infamous events that came to be by Christian attacks.
If we have a Jesus Day, why can't we have a Galileo day?
