Former church secretary achieved fame after a brief affair with religious broadcaster Jim Bakker was exposed in 1987.
She subsequently bared all, posing twice for "Playboy," then launched her own 900 number phone line and frequently appeared on radio programs such as the Howard Stern show. The Playboy deals alone netted her over one million dollars and we're not even mentioning that fresh Love Phone infomercial.
Bakker, meanwhile, lost his job as co-host of his show, "The PTL Club," and was convicted in 1989 of conspiracy and wire and mail fraud, in conjunction with mishandling funds for his ministry's Heritage USA theme park. He was sentenced to a 45-year prison term that was later reduced to eight years.
Sadly, Tammy Faye divorced Jim in 1992 and married his best friend and fellow PTL builder - Roe Messner.
