| Class AAA farm team of the Chicago Cubs, in Des Moines, IA. The I-Cubs, as they are known, play their home games in Sec Taylor Stadium, named after long-time Des Moines Register sports editor Sec Taylor. They compete in the Central Division of the Pacific Coast League.
Although Des Moines has seen many professional baseball teams come and go, including the Prohibitionists, the Midgets, the Undertakers, the Boosters, and the Demons, official Class AAA baseball started in Des Moines in 1969 with the Iowa Oaks, an American Association team. In 1981, the Oaks became an affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. A year later, they changed their name to the Iowa Cubs. In 1998, the team moved from the American Association to the Pacific Coast League.
Famous big-leaguers to play for the team include pitcher Vida Blue, who chalked up a record-setting 165 strikeouts for the I-Cubs in 1970.
