Rowley Birkin, Q.C. is a white haired old gentleman who tells outrageous stories in a low murmur with occasional audible phrases like poisonous monkey! or the whole thing was made entirely out of rubber!. These tales are tantalizing, yet indecipherable. However, they always conclude with the confidence that he was very, very drunk during the episode described. In an interview, Paul Whitehouse said he was based on a character they had met in a hotel bar, appropriately enough. |
