"I keep six honest serving men" is a poem written
by Rudyard Kipling, of most promenent fame for his excellent The Jungle Book. . This poem was taken from his story called "The Elephant's
Child" from the book " Just So Stories" published in 1902.
The first part of this poem has become somewhat of a mantra
of journalists all over the world, as it reflects the true spirit of journalism
in one single, easily memorized verse. The rest of the poem is good as well, but not quite as memorizable as the first verse.
I KEEP six honest serving men
They taught me all I knew
Their names are What and Why and When
And How and Where and Who.
