I could sleep now

It's quiet and dark and your body is here, next to mine.

Your breath is even, and deep, soothing in its regularity.

My head rests on your chest and you smell of soap, shampoo and summer.

I am warm from your loving and safe in the circle of your arms.

I could sleep now, if I wanted.

Comfortable.
Content.
Close.
Calm.
Cosy.

Oh yes, I could sleep.

But first, I just want to lie here, breathing with you, watching the moon move behind the clouds, not thinking of anything, not doing anything, simply being.

I'm happy.
