Hicks is the sergeant from Aliens. When the Lieutenant gets knocked out, he's in charge of the Charlie Foxtrot that ensues. This is why, even after nobody listens to Ripley's suggestion to "nuke the site from orbit", he wins the argument with the same suggestion. The Marines may be panicked, but they know their chain of command. Hicks dies in between Aliens and Alien 3 of complications from a lifepod crash and acid burns. His character was played by Michael Biehn.
