An African American inventor and educator, and original creator of peanut butter, as well as many other uses for the peanut, which was very abundant, but have very few uses for it in his lifetime. He was born in or around 1864, a time when slavery was still practiced, in Diamond Grove, Mo. He lost both his parents very young, his father died before he was born, and his mother was taken in a slave raid soon after.

Unfortunately for Carver, his most notable legacy, peanut butter was not made infamous by him. Instead, some of his more ambitious and underhanded acquaintances took his invention and marketed it, never acknowledging him as it's creator, nor sharing its vast profits with him.
