From 1915 through 1927, the peak of his career (despite not playing all of 1923 with a sinus condition that hurt his vision), he played with the St. Louis Browns. He was signed to the Browns by the legendary manager Branch Rickey, who he first met at the University of Michigan. Sisler also went on to manage them, from 1924 to 1926. His career record as a manager was 218-240.

He played with the Washington Senators in 1928 and the Boston Braves 1928 through 1930.

He is one of the few players to hit over .400 in a single season, and he did it twice- In 1920 he batted .407 (and he also played every inning of every game that year!), and in 1922 he hit a cool .420. Naturally, he also won the AL batting titles those years.

He held the record for most hits in a season at 257 in 1920, until Ichiro Suzuki broke his record in 2004, with 263 hits. He had more than 200 hits in a season 6 times.

He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939. One of baseball's all time greatest offensive players, Sisler never once competed in a World Series.
