Southeast Asia, specializing in
Indonesia. Professor at
Cornell University, graduate studies at
Stanford University (MA) and
Johns Hopkins University (
PhD). A prolific author, he was the writer and editor of numerous works, including
Nationalism and revolution in Indonesia. Visible and consistant
critic of the war of the
United States in
Vietnam, and author of several books on the topic. Retired from
Cornell University in 1988. The
Kahin Center for Advanced Research on Southeast Asia at
Cornell University was named in his honor by the
Southeast Asian studies program that he helped found.
