George Benson

If you dig out a CD that features his guitar without the trappings of pop or crossover sludge, you'll find that he's quite possibly the best electric guitarist alive; he has kept his virtuosity a secret over the past three decades, since he stepped into the shoes of the late Wes Montgomery in some of Creed Taylor's overproduced pop-jazz monstrosities. In the 70's, he found fame as a singer, returning to his Pittsburgh "Little Georgie Benson" rhythm and blues roots.
