Gentian Violet is a laboratory stain of incredible power and tenacity. It's actually quite beautiful as well; it's a deep purple in color (even in fairly low concentrations) and if you have the pure stuff, the edges of any splotch of the color will be speckled with gold. I presume that it is made from the flower of the same name.
