| Legendary band formed in 1987 by Harvard students Dean Wareham, Damon Krukowski and Naomi Yang. Released three albums of slow, stately and faintly psychedelic music rather highly in debt to The Velvet Underground. After their acrimonious 1991 split, Dean went on to form Luna and Damon and Naomi continued to record together under their own names. Everett True memorably stated that "anyone who thinks Galaxie 500 are boring should be shot".
