We ran to eachother in slow motion
outside the ISR.
You stuffed tiny flowers up your nose
in your ears
and behind your glasses.
Sitting on car hoods
we watched shooting stars
wishing for love.
You took me to a latin dance club
I must have been 18
The only man who danced with me was my father.
I used to dance in the basement alone.
No one ever asked.
Years later you emailed me.
We were both in a ballroom dance class.
Our goal was to get across the floor
without a fumble.
Now we wow them at weddings.
We serenade each other between cubicles
and swing dance in the aisles.
I rarely enjoy someone as much as you.
I always wanted to thank you
for inspiring me to dance again.
