Faces of Ground Zero, by photojournalist Joe McNally, is a travelling exhibit of life size photographs of some of the greatest heroes of our time: the firefighters, police, rescue workers, sanitation crews, and working men and women that were thrust into catastrophe during the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001.
There are 85 pictures, each with a short description of how that person was involved in the tragedy and most with a comment from the person pictured.
The camera used to take the pictures is the world's largest Polaroid camera, and is as big as a typical one-car garage. Each exposure takes about 90 seconds.
The exhibit has travelled from Grand Central Terminal in New York City to Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and London.
On a personal note: The exhibit was uplifting and heartbreaking at the same time. It was amazing seeing these everyday heroes at life size, and it really brought home the magnitude of the tragedy.
