From the
Lapine elil-hrair-rah, "Enemy-Thousand-Prince", or the more English-correct "Prince With a Thousand Enemies", El-ahrairah is the mythical, almost religious "
father" of the
rabbit race in the
novel Watership Down by
Richard Adams. In the book, he is a hero similar to
Robin Hood (and even more similar to the
Biblical figure
Moses during the chapter "
The Story of the King's Lettuce"), who ceaselessly attempts to free his people from
oppression and
threat using his
wits and
trickery.
