| Edith Massey (1918-1984) was best known for her roles in John Waters' movies leading up to Polyester. Miss Edie was a snaggletoothed actress who later became the subject of a short biographical film entitled Love Letter to Edie, recorded and performed songs (notably Punks, Get Off the Grass) on a nationwide tour, and ran a Baltimore thrift shop called Edith's Shopping Bag. Following her death in 1984, fellow Waters veteran Bob Adams assumed ownership of the thrift shop, changing its name to Fashback. |
