Demanding crackhead grad student

currently at the top of my personal list of users i wish would graduate and stop coming into the computer center. i don't remember how i found out she was a grad student.. some sort of drama about her thesis not printing the way she wanted it to.

she comes up to me and says, 'someone just stole my water bottle,' looking at me expectantly.

confused, i say, 'pardon?'

she glares. 'someone just stole my water bottle!'

me: 'errr..' errr as in, what the hell do you want me to do about it? chase them down? (normally i wouldn't be this apathetic, but come on, it's a water bottle. they're made of plastic and you can buy another one - with water in it - for a dollar in the deli.)

'i just thought you might want to report it,' she harrumphs, clearly offended.

i consider this, me calling police services and telling them that there is a morally reprehensible, possibly dangerous water bottle thief on the loose somewhere on campus. it is of course highly unlikely that due to the similarity of most water bottles, someone merely mistook her water bottle for theirs. but i say none of this, i just keep looking confused and say, 'well..'

'all i'm saying is that maybe you should move the table..' (this would be the table outside the computer center, away from the computers, where people are supposed to leave food and beverages that might spill in their backpacks or on the computers) 'right here.' and she points to the middle of the lab. right near a bank of computers. 'so you can watch it.'

she walks out before i can tell her that in addition to the indignities involved in having a completely useless job and wearing a green vest at work, it is not bloody likely that i will take on the responsibility of babysitting people's half-consumed snacks.

there's another one who likes to summon me from halfway across the lab by snapping her fingers, but that's enough ranting for today..
