Co*lum"bite (?), n. [Cf. F. colombite. See Columbium.] Min.

A mineral of a black color, submetallic luster, and high specific specific gravity. It is a niobate (or columbate) of iron and manganese, containing tantalate of iron; -- first found in New England.
