French for "That's Life," or "Life is like that", or "Shit Happens". Usually denotes resignation.

Another term based on "C'est la vie" is "C'est la guerre".

This is french for "That's the war" or "war sucks". I have always considered it to be a bit more negative than c'est la vie, even more resigned to the fates because while bad things may happen in life a war is just out to get everyone.
