She lived clear across town, but it was worth the drive. I don't know why I came over there. I kept thinking that maybe she wouldn't accept it. Maybe she wouldn't take me back. Maybe she'd slam the door in my face. I prayed that she wouldn't.

I finally drove up to her apartment. It was after 10 PM and she was probably asleep, but that's a chance I had to take. She lives with her mom and sister and they would probably be asleep too. I didn't care. I had to do this I opened the trunk and opened up my guitar case.
I made my way up to her apartment door, knocked on it and took a deep breathe. I could hear her rustling around inside. "Who is that?" I hear her faintly say behind the door. Her mom responded, "I don't know". She opened up the door in her flannel PJ's and with the start of one strum I sang her these words:
I just know that she warms my heart,
knows where all my imperfections are
and she said that I was the brightest little firefly in her jar
With tears in her eyes she gave me a hug and said, "It's ok. It's ok." Needless to say, her mom told her to go back to bed and me to go home. I went home with a smile on my face.
