House near Codsall, Wolverhampton on the Shrophire Border. Famous for being the hiding place of King Charles II after the Battle of Worcester on the 3rd of September, 1651. Part of the English Civil War. He also hid in the nearby White Ladies Priory. King Charles had to hide in an famous The Royal Oak Tree when Cromwell's soldiers came to the house. They very nearly captured him and so would have altered history. A sapling still grows there and a nearby pub was named after the event. In fact thousands of pubs are named after it now. Oak Apple Day is a celebration of the event held every year.
