1940- Italian born Film Director

Born in Parma, Italy into an intellectual family. He began making 16 mm films when he was still a teenager. He also began writing and won the Premio Viareggio, one of Italy's top Literary awards for his book: In Search of Mystery.

Known for his strong visual style, he established himself at the age of 24 with the political drama Before the Revolution 1964
