The Basque oral language is very, very diverse. The dialects are very different, up to the point where people from one region have great difficulty understanding people form another. Batua is a unified Basque language, made up from several of the dialects. It is used for writing, and noone speaks real batua. Something like nynorsk and mandarin language.
