A river from J.R.R. Tolkien's immortal classic "The Lord of the Rings";

Baranduin is the real name of the river that the hobbits called Brandywine. It is elvish (sindarin), meaning something along the lines of "golden brown (large) river". Part of it forms the eastern boundary of the Shire, the hobbits' home region.

The river rose at Lake Nenuial in the far north, and flowed south and west to reach the Great Sea above Eryn Vorn.
