Αχατης

  1. A Trojan, the faithful friend of Aeneas and companion on his travels until he reached Italy. There is a tradition that Achates killed Protesilaus, the first Greek to land on Trojan soil.

  2. The name given by Nonnus in his Dionysiacs to one of the companions of the god. This Achates was said to be a Tyrrhenian.
