One of the greatest jazz/classical/improv pianists of the late 20th century. Best known for his membership in the Standards Trio through the early- and mid-1990's. However, in 1996 he began to suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome, so badly that he could no longer perform or even record. By the middle of 1999 he had gotten the malady under much better control and released a solo album, Melody At Night, With You, his first in four years.

Hawaii Five-O (thing)

One of the greatest -- if not the greatest -- TV cop shows ever. Ran from 1968 to 1980; starred Jack Lord as Detective Steve Garrett and James MacArthur as Detective Danny Williams as an elite cop duo who matched wits against the crime lord Wo Fat (Khigh Dheigh, who also happened to be in The Manchurian Candidate). The show is best known for its theme song, its awesome Hawaiian scenery. and the line "Book 'em, Danno." It's still in syndication on some channel anywhere in the USA.

Suspension (thing)

Chemistry: a mixture of particles (solid in a liquid, or liquid in a gas) in which the particles are finely dispersed at the macroscopic level, but remain undissolved. Suspensions will, given enough time, spontaneously separate into their components. Contrast with a solution, which is made up of dissolved particles, and which will not separate spontaneously.

Tyndall effect (thing)

One of the properties of a colloid is that it exhibits the Tyndall effect. When a beam of light shines through a colloid, it reflects off the particles in the mixture and you can see the beam travelling through it (sort of like volumetric lighting); in a solution, the particles are dissolved and don't reflect light.

A document meant to extoll the virtues of the Internet in a free-market economy and slam other such stupid elements of this sort of economy like buzzwords and hype. Unfortunately, because it's trying too hard to pattern itself after another well-known, controversial, and groundbreaking work, it comes off as way too bombastic and hyped for its own good -- sort of the thing that would come out of the Marketing department from Hell. Had they kept it to under 10, it would have sufficed and been a lot more readable. Good ideas; poor delivery. Sounds just like the "corporate falseness" they're dissing.

And so, in its unadulterated glory:
