Chesed is
Hebrew for
compassion and
kindness, pronounced with a
guttural and with
emphasis on the first
syllable.
Chesed is also the source of the word Hasid (accent on a long 'i', guttural 'h'; plural: Hasidim), as a Hasid was originally part of a religious group known for their pious compassion. At least to most English speakers the singular Hasidim now means "Ultra-Orthodox Jews".
Chesed is one of the steps in Sephiroth.
