Handel's
Messiah, Part I, no. 4
Chorus.
Allegro.
And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed. And all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
Isaiah 40:4
This, the first chorus of
Messiah, sets the scene for what is to come: an unfolding of the glory of the
Lord God in his
Christ. The narrative here follows directly from
Ev'ry valley, and concludes the section from Isaiah 40.
Meditation: All the nations of
Earth shall see God together, for it is before all the people that He is revealed. Therefore we should not hoard our revelations of God, but share them. We should be willing to learn as well as teach, also, for the dawn has not yet fully come to anyone.
